Title: Tangled
Medium: Acrylic and Ink on Canvas

Size: 18"X20"
Year: 2007
(For Sale)
This piece, inspired by Vancouver's amazing world of dogs, is Jody's most recent homage to Vancouver's West End. This playful work illustrates the animated nature of canines, and how people can be brought together by "Man's, or Woman's, Best Friend". The couple tangled by the colourful leashes, leaves the art enthusiast with a sense of hope and curiosity for a glimpse of a fortuitous romance.

West End Community Centre Mural (The Process)
In June, Jody was commissioned by the West End Community Centre to complete an outdoor mural on the side of the Centre's preschool. The wall is approximately 35 feet by 11 feet. The below photos provide an idea of where, and how big, the mural will be. After many collaborative meetings with a mural committee and various sketches by Jody, a beach theme was chosen. A big thank you goes out to General Paint for donating all the paint. The wall will showcase a West End beach scene with two children making sandcastles. The windows will be incorporated as the doors of the sandcastles. This is a perfect theme as there is a sandbox attached to the wall. Jody will complete the mural by the end of August, 2007.

Jody Has Other Styles Too!

Title: Omara
Medium: Water Colour

Not only is Jody able to create wonderful whimsical paintings, but he is also very interested in water colour portraits. This piece, inspired by the CD cover of the very talented Omara Portuondo, reveals a traditional side to Jody. This is Jody's first official water colour piece and although he has had no formal training with water colour, he intends on exploring this medium more in the future.

Title: Olivia
Medium: Pencil Crayon and Ink
Size: 16" X 20"
Year: 2007

This private commission is one of Jody's personal favourites. Jody related the various illustrations to the words of the poem. At the top right hand corner, the young girl is sleeping. The red path represents her dreams, and the various scenarios are dreams of her past present and future.

Commissioned as a wedding present Bicycle Built For Two is a personal best for Jody as it creates wonderful memories of living in New York.

Medium: Acrylic and Ink on Canvas
Size: 24"X24"
Year: 2007
(Sold)
Inspired by Vancouver's yearly Illuminares Lantern Festival, Jody captures the essence of this celebration of light with the glow of the lanterns. This is a new world for Jody, which deviates from his trademark red brick wall, unveiling a night filled with stars and fireflies dancing around Trout Lake. The festival, which will be held at Trout Lake Park on Saturday July 28th, is one of Jody's favourite Lower Mainland events.

Title: Autumn Stroll

Vancouver's Stanley Park is peppered with peppy poodles. Dog walkers love strolling through the park and enjoy the scenes. This playful piece, punctuated with pinks and purples, depicts an owner with her perfect pink pet.

Title: Basket O' Fun
Medium: Acrylic and Ink on Canvas

One can always tell the beginning of Spring in Vancouver. It seems as if overnight the city is blanketed in pink and white from cherry blossom trees. This unique window in time is preserved through Jody's piece entitled,
Basket O' Fun. Through the movement of the woman on the bike, the vibrancy of the blossoms, and the playfulness of the puppy, Jody takes the viewer on a ride through Spring.

Title: Fruitful
Medium: Acrylic and Ink on Canvas
Size: 24"X24"
Year: 2007
(Unavailable)
This is a very endearing piece for Jody. Custom designed for an Outreach Africa Charity event, Jody tried to capture the core value of the benefit. The charity, which raises monies for Ethiopian mothers, or for young girls who have taken on the mother role as a result of parents dieing from AIDS, empowers Ethiopian women by lending money to help set up fruit stands. Jody embodies the feel of Vancouver, uses the colours of Ethiopia, and celebrates the fruitfulness of mothers.

Title: Pink Pumps
Medium: Pencil Crayon and Ink

Size: 11"X14"
Year: 2007
(Sold)

To celebrate the diversity that envelopes Vancouver's West End, Jody created a series of paintings and illustrations of women walking their dogs. This illustration, now in a private collection, allows one to escape to a world with only dandelions as the main problem. All is well in Jody's piece,
Pink Pumps.

Title: Over the Bridge
Medium: Acrylic and Ink on Canvas

Size: 20"X24"

Year: 2007

Inspired by Stanley Park's Lost Lagoon, Jody paints a typical Spring day full of love, exercise, and a wildlife.
